From an issue of the original printed "The Light Table" newsletter, Vol 2., No. 1, August 2007:

"The Visual Resources Library was formally organized as a "slide library" in 1968 by resident art historian Claire Kelleher. Under her guidance the Department of Art began building a very respectable "slide library" that was centered around the immediate instructional needs of the Art History faculty. Due to Claire's expertise that University realized the importance of maintaining a visual resource collection on campus as part of the greater scheme of our academic libraries. In 2007, the Slide Library officially changed its name from the Visual Resources Library to reflect the breadth of services it could provide to the Department of Art, as well as the entire campus community."

The current Curator, Teresa Cunningham-Transou, would like to welcome the digital wayfarer to the Light Table Redux. This blog is dedicated to providing information to UNCG faculty, staff, and students about the Visual Resources Library and any upcoming information about the services provided by the VRL.

The Visual Resources Library is located in the Weatherspoon Museum, Cone Building 105—hours: 8 am-4:45 pm, Monday-Friday. It is the continuing goal of the VRL to provide visual archival materials for faculty and student use, in order to facilitate the highest possible quality educational experience.
